Jirou Azuma, a ninja-trained teen who can talk to animals, finds an injured black cat named Ragou. Jirou soon discovers Ragou is actually the legendary "Black Star of Doom," forcing them to unite with the Bureau of Espionage to fight off swarms of mononoke seeking to exploit Ragou's powers.
